What Is ISO/IEC 27001?
Learn what ISO/IEC 27001 is, how an ISMS manages information-security risks, and what UAE businesses should know about requirements and certification.
ISO/IEC 27001 is no longer only for banks and data centres. Software houses, MSPs, healthcare operators, and professional-services firms in the UAE are being asked for it in contracts, tenders, and vendor onboarding. The standard requires an information security management system (ISMS) — a living set of risks, controls, and records — not a folder of IT policies.
Core Care implements 27001 for organisations that need to prove security to clients without building a bureaucracy the business cannot run.
Scope is the first decision that matters
If you certify the whole group when only one platform is in the contract, you will drown in controls. If you scope too narrowly, the certificate will not satisfy the buyer. We define ISMS scope around the systems, locations, and suppliers that actually process the data your clients care about.
From there the work is a risk assessment, a Statement of Applicability, and Annex A controls you can operate: access, logging, backup, supplier security, incident response, and secure development where it applies.
Auditors sample evidence, not intentions
Stage 2 fails when policies exist and records do not. Access reviews, change tickets, incident logs, and supplier assessments need to be real. We stand those records up during implementation so the certification audit is a sample of work already done.
27001 also sits well beside ISO 9001 and 22301. Many of our tech-services clients certify an integrated system rather than three manuals. If a buyer has asked you for ISO 27001, send us the clause or tender wording on WhatsApp and we will tell you what scope you actually need.
