ADNOC Vendor Registration vs Prequalification: A 2026 Guide
Understand the difference between ADNOC supplier registration and prequalification, what to prepare, and how ICV affects tender competitiveness.
You have a company ready to supply ADNOC. Before preparing an application, there is one distinction worth getting right: supplier registration and prequalification are separate stages.
ADNOC's registration guidance says suppliers must complete both to participate in its sourcing events. Registration alone should therefore not be treated as permission to bid for every opportunity. [1]
This guide explains the difference, what to prepare and where ICV fits, so you can plan your next step with a clearer understanding of the process.
What is the difference between registration and prequalification?
Registration establishes your supplier profile. ADNOC's registration manual explains that, after acceptance, your company receives an onboarding email and its status becomes Registered. You can then initiate prequalification. [2]
Prequalification concerns the relevant work group or product group. ADNOC's Supplier Hub lets suppliers track requests for those groups. Its guided tour also explains that tender invitations depend on ADNOC's requirements and selection criteria. [3]
For planning purposes, treat these as three separate milestones:
• Establish the supplier profile. - Complete the relevant prequalification. - Respond to suitable sourcing opportunities when invited.
This distinction matters when agreeing a consultancy scope. Ask whether a quotation covers registration only, prequalification support, or both. A vague promise to “get you registered” leaves too much room for misunderstanding.
What should you prepare before starting?
The official registration manual covers licence and company information, product or service subgroup selection, a signed supplier declaration, ownership details, and contacts for the focal point and top leadership. It also includes an integrity due diligence questionnaire sent by email. [2]
Use that as a starting point, then follow the documents and fields requested in your application. Avoid treating a generic online checklist as the complete requirement for your business.
Our practical recommendation is to create one working folder with:
• The company records needed to complete the portal fields. - A document register showing filenames, versions and expiry dates. - A list of questions that need clarification before submission. - A record of submissions, responses and outstanding actions.
Assign one person to maintain that folder. It gives your team a clear reference when several people are supplying information.
Choose categories that match your business
ADNOC's manual distinguishes material/product groups from service/work groups and says the selected subgroups must align with the activities on your licence. [2]
Before selecting a category, write down exactly what you intend to supply. Then compare that description with your licensed activity and the options in the portal.
For example, use a precise description of your proposed supply rather than a broad ambition such as “oil and gas work.” This is a preparation exercise, not a substitute for checking the category requirements.
If the fit is unclear, resolve the question before building a submission around that category.
Is an ICV certificate mandatory for ADNOC tenders?
ADNOC's published ICV guidance states that an ICV certificate is not required to participate in its tenders. It also says suppliers with higher ICV scores receive a competitive advantage during tendering. [4]
Those are different points: eligibility to participate and competitiveness in evaluation.
Do not dismiss ICV because it is not a universal participation requirement, and do not describe it as mandatory for every tender. Read the actual tender conditions and consider how ICV affects the opportunity you are pursuing.

Does ADNOC charge registration fees?
ADNOC's prequalification service page states that it does not charge application-processing fees for registration or prequalification. [5]
If you engage a consultancy, ask for a written breakdown of its professional services. That helps you distinguish the support you are purchasing from ADNOC's own application process.
A useful quotation should make the deliverables clear: what will be reviewed, what will be prepared, who will submit the information and how clarification requests will be handled.
What happens after registration?
Use the Supplier Hub to follow your prequalification request and keep track of updates. The platform also provides request tracking, notifications and company-profile management. [3]
Prequalification should not be confused with a contract award. ADNOC's guidance makes tender invitations conditional on its business requirements and selection criteria; it does not promise work to every supplier. [3]
For your own planning, keep registration, prequalification and tender activity as separate entries in your sales pipeline. That makes it easier to see what has actually been completed and what still needs attention.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I start ADNOC vendor registration?
Start at the official ADNOC Supplier Hub (https://supplierhub.adnoc.ae/). Its guided tour explains access through SAP Ariba, including use of existing Ariba credentials. [3]
Does a Registered status mean prequalification is complete?
No. The registration manual identifies acceptance of registration as the point after which you can initiate prequalification. [2]
How long will approval take?
The official material cited here does not establish one guaranteed completion time for every applicant. Check the current guidance for your application and avoid treating a consultant's estimate as an ADNOC commitment.
Will registration guarantee tender invitations?
No. ADNOC's guided tour describes invitations for prequalified suppliers as dependent on business requirements and selection criteria. [3]
